Top Ayahs And Surahs to Recite Daily

Top Ayahs And Surahs to Recite Daily

Reciting certain surahs daily is not only a sunnah (tradition) of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him), but it also brings peace to the heart, protection, and countless blessings. Let’s explore together which surahs are recommended for different times of the day and night, their meanings, and why they hold such importance in our daily lives.

Importance of Daily Recitation of the Quran

Before we begin about which Surahs, I want to quickly mention why we do this. Reading Quran daily is very important for Muslim. Every letter you read, you get reward from Allah. And some Surahs, they have extra special benefits. For example, they protect you from evil, or bring you peace in your heart. We take this from Hadith and from the practice of our pious predecessors.

Surahs to Recite Daily

To strengthen your daily Quran reading routine, recite specific Surahs regularly. Begin your mornings and evenings with Surah Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, and An-Nas for divine shielding. Before sleep, recite Surah Al-Kafirun and Surah Al-Mulk to ensure peace and protection.

In addition to surahs, other verses are recommended such as Ayat al-Kursi after each prayer, the last two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah at night, and the last ten verses of Surah Al-Imran upon waking provide further blessings and safeguarding. Reciting Surah Al-Kahf on Fridays brings light and protection until the following week.

Let’s discuss them in more details:

First: Surahs to Recite in the Morning and Evening

The Prophet (Peace be upon him) taught us to begin and end our day with the remembrance of Allah. A powerful way to do this is by reciting Surah Al-Ikhlas, Surah Al-Falaq, and Surah An-Nas three times in the morning and evening. It is very good habit, brings barakah and protection, by the will of Allah.

1. Surah Al-Ikhlas (الإخلاص)

Surah Al-Ikhlas is about the oneness of Allah. There is no god but Him. Reciting this surah reminds us of Allah’s Oneness and strengthens our faith.

“Say, ‘He is Allah, [Who is] One. Allah, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born, Nor is there to Him any equivalent.'” (Quran 112)

Qul huwa Allahu ahad. Allahu assamad. Lam yalid wa lam yoolad. Wa lam yakul-lahu kufuwan ahad.”

2. Surah Al-Falaq (الفلق)

Surah Al-Falaq seeks refuge in Allah from the evil of creation. Reciting this surah provides protection from all forms of harm and negativity.

“Say, ‘I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak From the evil of what He has created And from the evil of darkness when it settles And from the evil of the blowers in knots And from the evil of an envier when he envies.'” (Quran 113)

“Qul a’uzu bi rabbil-falaq. Min sharri ma khalaq. Wa min sharri ghasiqin iza waqab. Wa min sharri-naffathati fil-‘uqad. Wa min sharri hasidin iza hasad.”

3. Surah An-Nas (الناس)

Surah An-Nas seeks refuge in Allah from the whisperings of Satan. Reciting this surah protects us from the evil suggestions and temptations of Shaytan.

image 184

“Say, ‘I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind, The Sovereign of mankind, The God of mankind, From the evil of the retreating whisperer Who whispers into the breasts of mankind – From among the jinn and mankind.'” (Quran 114)

“Qul a’uzu bi rabbin-nas. Malikin-nas. Ilahin-nas. Min sharril-waswasil-khannas. Allazi yuwaswisu fi sudurin-nas. Minal-jinnati wan-nas.”

These three surahs are known as Al-Mu’awwidhatain and Al-Ikhlas. Reciting them protects you from harm and brings peace.

Second: Surahs to Recite Before Sleeping

At night, we prepare for rest and entrust ourselves to Allah. Some specific surahs bring great rewards and protection when recited before sleep.

1. Surah Al-Kafirun (الكافرون)

This Surah tells about the difference between Islam and other religions. It is very clear message about Tawhid (Oneness of Allah). Reciting this Surah affirms our commitment to worshipping Allah alone.

Farwa b. Naufal quoted his father as saying that he had asked God’s messenger to teach him something to say when he went to bed, and was told to recite, “Say, O infidels”, for it is a declaration of freedom from polytheism. (Tirmidhī, Abū Dāwūd and Dārimī transmitted it.)

“Say, ‘O disbelievers, I do not worship what you worship. Nor are you worshippers of what I worship. Nor will I be a worshipper of what you worship. Nor will you be worshippers of what I worship. For you is your religion, and for me is my religion.'” (Quran 109)

“Qul ya ayyuhal-kafirun. La a’budu ma ta’budun. Wa la antum ‘abiduna ma a’bud. Wa la ana ‘abidum ma ‘abadtum. Wa la antum ‘abiduna ma a’bud. Lakum dinukum wa liya din.”

2. Surah Al-Mulk (الملك)

Recite the entire Surah Al-Mulk (Chapter 67) before bed to gain protection from the punishment of the grave.

The surah begins:

“Blessed is He in whose hand is dominion, and He is over all things competent.”

“Tabarakalladhi biyadihil mulk, wa huwa ‘ala kulli shay’in qadeer.”

Third: Ayat al-Kursi (آية الكرسي) After Every Obligatory Prayer

After every one of the five daily prayers, recite Ayat al-Kursi. Again, it reminds us of Allah’s greatness and brings us protection.

This verse from Surah Al-Baqarah (Chapter 2, Verse 255) is often called the greatest verse in the Quran. It is very powerful verse, talking about Allah’s greatness and His power over everything.

“Allah – there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.”  (Chapter 2, Verse 255)

Fourth: Last Two Verses of Surah Al-Baqarah

It is recommended to read last two ayahs (verses) of Surah Al-Baqarah at night.

AD 4nXefSojSb5908HU8dbx

The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and [so have] the believers. All of them have believed in Allah and His angels and His books and His messengers, [saying], “We make no distinction between any of His messengers.” And they say, “We hear and we obey. [We seek] Your forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the [final] destination.” (285) Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity. It will have [the consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what [evil] it has earned. “Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people.” (Chapter 2, Verses 285, 286)

Fifth: Last Ten Verses of Surah Al-Imran After Waking Up at Night

If you wake up during the night, it is good to read the last ten verses of Surah Al-Imran. These verses talk about Allah’s creation and His signs for those who reflect.

AD 4nXcS9q9dtqgukoAY6I5gxx3vWm6bZDGQPUgPCbO6bEk0LSO8JhZkNwkXiaIFt6CIS6Npoj4zJDcliC KmQKr0UtQSZ k9bGXps6PhvlV5IXc4UvO0rtz yRhsogYnrUKJ5YtQkRoyw?key=3zkVTbR zFjTQbjq9uW6cgJ7

The ten verses befin with:

“Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of the night and the day are signs for those of understanding. (Chapter 3, Verse 190)”

Sixth: Extensive Night Recitation: Surah Al-Baqarah and Surah As-Sajdah

If you have more time and want more reward, try to read long Surahs like Surah Al-Baqarah (the longest Surah). Also, Surah As-Sajdah is very good to read at night.

Surah As-Sajdah (السجدة)

Surah As-Sajdah focuses on the signs of Allah’s power and the consequences of rejecting His message.

AD 4nXfpSk2F7Xc09WD5khxutn5w1ap2bJp0iYaoq17MHchnl8sGi9CXmq

Surah As-Sajdah begins with:

“Alif, Lam, Meem. (1) [This is] the revelation of the Book about which there is no doubt from the Lord of the worlds.” (Chapter 32, verses 1, 2

Eighth: Surah Al-Kahf

Recite Surah Al-Kahf on Friday (Jummah) night or during the day. Reading it protects from Fitna, especially trials of Dajjal, before the Day of Judgment.

Abū Sa’id reported the Prophet as saying, “If anyone recites sūra al-Kahf on Friday, light will shine brightly for him till the next Friday.” (Mishkat al-Masabih 2175)

Surah Al-Kahf begins with:

“[All] praise is [due] to Allah, who has sent down upon His Servant the Book and has not made therein any deviance.” (Chapter 18, verse 1)

Want to learn the Quran properly, beautifully, with Tajweed?

If you are serious about your Quran recitation, and want to read correctly, like Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught us, I have some advice for you.

  1. First, you must learn Noorani Qaida. It helps you pronounce the Arabic letters correctly.
  1. Then, Tajweed. Tajweed tells you how to read with proper rules – where to stop, where to lengthen the sounds, and so on. It makes the meaning clearer, and your recitation more pleasing to Allah.
